Ahead of his upcoming April 4 Saturday Night Live performance, Grammy-winning rock icon Jack White leads this week’s New Music Friday with his new apocalyptic “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs”/“Derecho Demonico” double-single.
On the other side of the genre spectrum, Anne Hathaway boasts this week’s other major single release with “My Mouth Is Lonely for You,” the latest FKA twigs-penned joint from the forthcoming Mother Mary soundtrack. Out April 17, the new A24 film follows Hathaway as an iconic fictional pop star making a major comeback; the accompanying Mother Mary: Greatest Hits soundtrack will drop the same day, featuring seven original songs crafted by Jack Antonoff and Charli xcx.
Rising pop singer floweroflove drummed up some more hype for her fast-approaching Coachella debut (April 10) with a doe-eyed new single titled “American Wedding,” while MICHELLE member Sofia D’Angelo continued her solo journey with “Time.”
This New Music Friday also features new single releases from Dan + Shay (“Say So”), Mary J. Blige (“Want Love”), PJ Morton (“Mutual”), YG and Ty Dolla $ign (“Teach You How to Luh Me”), Meek Mill (“600 Racks”), India Shawn (“Rain On Me”), Danielle Bradbery (“Cowgirl’s Prayer”), Bebe Rexha (“Hysteria”), Sheff G (“Him”), Estelle (“Live, Love, Learn”) and Ravyn Lenae (“Bobby” and “Reputation,” with Dominic Fike).
English singer-songwriter Arlo Parks released her third album, Ambiguous Desire, featuring the standout track “Beams.” Swae Lee also dropped his new star-studded solo album, Same Difference, while Irish rock band U2 shared a season-appropriate Easter Lily EP. Jazz-funk fusion artist Thundercat also debuted a gorgeous new 15-track set titled Distracted.
This week, the music world also received new projects from TheARTI$t (DND), Charley Crockett (Age of the Ram), Dermot Kennedy (The Weight of the Woods) and Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE & Surf Gang (Pompeii // Utility).
